Music
Music is one of God’s great gifts, and Jane considers herself blessed that she can enjoy such fulfilment in her own playing, as well as in bringing joy to others by performing in concerts or leading worship in church services.

Solo Performer
Jane first began music lessons at the age of three, and moved on to piano lessons soon afterwards. She worked through all her exams and achieved her Associate Diploma by the age of sixteen, followed by a Masters in Music (London University) in 1998.

At age ten, Jane began to learn the trombone, and loved playing in the school band, then later in community orchestras, jazz bands and a brass quartet.

At eighteen, Jane broadened her studies by commencing pipe organ tuition. She has worked continuously as a church organist and has performed regularly as a soloist on both piano and organ.

In 2003, Jane purchased a Celtic harp (Denwar harps, Bellingen) and taught herself to play. She now enjoys regular gigs at parties, churches and weddings.

Songwriter
Jane was able to read and write music before she could read, and has been writing songs since she was four.
At first her songwriting was intensely private—she used composition as a means of working through emotions and as a form of prayer.

Jane uses the Psalms as her inspiration. She appreciates the honesty of the psalm writers as they cry out to
God with questions and challenges, but ultimately with great trust in God’s sovereignty.

Teaching
Jane has been teaching piano and trombone since she was fifteen. She supports her students in reaching their goals, but mostly she encourages her pupils to develop a passion for music and music-making. It is a great joy to Jane that she can share her love of music with her students, and she enjoys the challenge of finding repertoire which suits and inspires each individual.
